So, regular readers of this blog may have noticed that I haven’t been posting quite as much lately.
I suck, I know. I’m truly sorry about that.
Truthfully, life has been ‘a changing and things are about to get real…
Because..
I’m pregnant – we’re expecting our first baby on November 17!
I’ve been dying to tell you guys, seriously. Now, I don’t expect this blog to turn into pregnancy central, but being pregnant has made me the most awkward person alive and, hence, I have tons of funny/embarrassing stories to share, which usually involve me saying something totally inappropriate to a medical professional. So, you can expect some of those in the near future.
But, this pregnancy hasn’t been a breeze for me, unfortunately. After a few scares (including being admitted to the hospital last week) and daily injections (which will continue throughout my entire pregnancy), it has been a rough road for me so far. As a worrier by nature, having a high risk pregnancy has been a lesson in priorities. I can either spend all day with Dr. Google fretting about every pain and twinge (this was pretty much my entire first trimester), or I can take a shower, get something done, and be a productive member of society.
I’m deciding to choose the latter from now on.
Oh, and baby is doing awesome, which is the important thing!
And so, to you my dear readers, I promise to try my best to break the worrying cycle, and concentrate on the good things in life, like cookies, and cupcakes, and whatnot. I’ll shower too. Promise.

Congratulations! I hope the rest of your pregnancy is easier than it’s been so far!
Thanks so much, Faith! Hopefully the “excitement” is behind me
Congrats!!!! Will this blog now become “Your Mamma’s Cookie?”
Haha! I think the title has stuck for now
OMG Congratulations! I am sorry to hear about all of the scares so far and hope all is well from here on out!
Thanks so much, Liz!
I’m so happy for you,(love the picture) don’t worry about not blogging as much as you’d like, most important is for you and the baby to be healthy and happy. Congratulations!
Thank you, Hani!
We’re beyond excited!
OMG, OMG!!! So excited for you! Sorry to hear the pregnancy is being a pain in the ass, but happy that the baby is doing great! Keep us updated
Congratulations!
Thank you SO much, Amy! We just told family and friends a couple weeks ago – we have been dying to tell everyone!
I’m hopeful that things will improve from here on out – the things we do for offspring, eh?
Jennifer!!!! I am so unbelievably happy for you and hubby and I can’t WAIT to hear more! I figured something was up because you hadn’t been posting as much, and I am so glad to hear that it’s good news! Aaaaand you’re only a month and half-ish behind me so we are doing this together!
Yes, I totally thought of you when I found out I was pregnant (is that weird? sorry!). I knew that we wouldn’t be too far apart
It is crazy – I have a cousin who is due almost exactly one month ahead of me and another cousin’s wife is due 2 months ahead of me – so, for three months this fall, we’ll be adding babies to the family! They are both having girls so far, so everyone’s waiting to see if we’ll be going along with the crowd or changing the tide
I remember that you’re waiting to find out the gender – that is going to be such an awesome surprise!
I don’t think my husband could wait – he is getting anxious already to find out!
Haha no, that’s not creepy. I would’ve done the same thing!
My husband is super easy going so he was willing to go along with it when I told him it would be fun to not know. It’s funny though – we’ve found that it drives other people CRAZY and that makes it even more fun.
I bet! My mom is also SUPER anxious to find out asap, so if we were waiting until birth, I think she would have an aneurysm
I think you should both wait to find out, but let everyone in the cookie world know so we can all make you both gender reveal cookies and have the world’s biggest internet gender reveal party!!!! Just a thought
How fabulous is this! Congratulations to you and your husband. So happy to hear that the baby is doing well. Continued best wishes for a safe, healthy and happy pregnancy. Looking forward to meeting the newest member of your family in November. Take good care
Thank you so much, Paula! We are so excited to add a human baby to our trio of fur babies. I have a feeling that this human baby might be a bit more work though
Congrats! That is the best news! And yes…leave Dr. Google alone, he is a quack! None of my consultations go well. You are planted on my prayer list. Keep busy and we will take the journey with you. If you have not yet seen GOT from last night….avoid at all costs. Congrats!
Haha – so true! A total quack
Thanks so much for your prayers, Susie! I think some of the scary stuff is behind me – I’m looking forward to actually feeling the baby. At my 12 week ultrasound, he/she was moving around like crazy! Even the ultrasound tech was laughing and letting us watch (even though she had important measurements to take and such). I was an active baby in the womb and I hope this little one is too
As for GOT – too late, I already saw it! And since one of my lovely pregnancy symptoms is crying about everything, there were some tears shed
It was such a heart-wrenching episode!
I was too shocked to cry! Now I’m just mad. But in the theme of other posts, we will see those characters all cleaned up on another Brit series soon!
Huge congratulations!! Take care of yourself and the baby, we’ll be here through it all with you:)
Thank you very much, Beth – it is amazing to have such a wonderful, supportive group thinking of me
I’m sorry to hear you’ve had some difficulties but I am beyond excited for you. What an exciting time for you! I’m a November baby
Thanks so much, Melissa! I’m hopeful that some of the scary stuff is behind me now
I think having a November baby will be awesome, but I’m not looking forward to being super pregnant during the summer! 95 degrees + a big pregnant belly? Oh man
Jennifer, congratulations to you and your hubby! That is SUCH exciting news and definitely something to look forward to
yay!! Wishing I could give you a great big hug and make you some cookies right now!
Also, you have me intrigued with inappropriate stories. Please — divulge.
Thank you so much, Hayley! Inappropriate stories are on the way! Promise
Congratulations!! I hope things start going a bit more smoothly for you.
Many thanks, Morgan!
Congratulations, Jennifer! I see lots of baby themed cookies in the near future!
Thanks so much, Janine! I suppose I should throw in a baby cookie or two
Congrats!!
Thanks, Ashley!
Yay!!! Congrats Jennifer and what fun timing for your announcement: its my due date!
Its a baby-filled day, for sure! I’m sorry to hear that the first stint of your pregnancy has been stressful. Stress and being pregnant are an uncool combination and I can absolutely see how worrying can get the better of you. Alas, you’re awesome and I’m optimistic that trimester #2 and #3 will be so much better for you. Big big hug, congrats again, and I’m dying to know the gender already! lol. Will you find out? xo
Oh, Michelle, how awesome – I didn’t realize it was your due date!
Are there any signs that your baby girl will be making an appearance soon? They are certainly on their own schedule, aren’t they?
It has been a bit of a roller coaster so far! I’m technically high risk because of a blood clotting disorder that I didn’t even know about (I was tested during early pregnancy because my father had it). I’ve never had a clot, but just to be safe, I’ll have extra monitoring and I have to take a low dose of blood thinner every day…a very fun shot! The hospital stay was pretty much related to that too – my heart rate went crazy and I was having some shortness of breath, and because of the disorder, they wanted to admit me to the hospital to make sure I didn’t have a pulmonary embolism. No problems – the baby is just making my heart rate weird
I actually have another ultrasound on Wednesday and I’m hoping that they will take a guess at the gender then! We definitely want to know, although my husband is much more anxious to find out than I am
As for signs about the baby’s estimated arrival, its so hard to say! I have pretty intense contractions fairly often, but not with regularity. Tomorrow wouldn’t surprise me, but who knows? The babes just love to keep ya guessing!
I’m so glad you’re going to find out! Its just so much fun to get excited about buying little baby clothes and starting to call the baby “he” or “she”. I love it all (well, most of it). lol.
I’m also very happy to hear that it sounds like you’re being well-taken care of and that your doctor is keeping a close eye on things. A friend of mine had preeclampsia and blood pressure issues that didn’t surface until very late. It was then a big scary ordeal. With her second, they kept a close eye and she went full-term and had a smooth pregnancy. More ultrasounds, extra tests, docs who are paying special attention = all good things
Sending over one more set of hugs! Yay!! xoxo
Congrats Jennifer!!! so excited for you! =)
Thank you so much, Anu!
Congratulations and best wishes. Babies are wonderful and no apologies for talking about them or your pregnancy.
Thanks, Robin!
Yay! Congrats! I wish you the best throughout the remainder of your pregnancy! I am just beginning my first trimester. Well, I’m about 6 and a half weeks, which to me, is the beginning. Ha
.
So excited for you!
Oh, congratulations Brooke! How wonderful
How are you feeling? I was super lucky and didn’t have much nausea, but I was SUPER tired all of the time
Congratulations! I’m so excited for you. I’m a new mom (well, a year now). Hooray for baby! And even more so: Hooray for MOM!
Aww, thank you, Courtney!
It’s still kind of weird to think of myself as a mom…I figure I have a little time to get used to the idea
Congratulations!!
Thank you, Amanda!
Congratulations!! How exciting! I was wondering what happened to you.
I adopted my son so I have no clue about any of the pregnancy stuff. Hopefully it gets easier for you. Can’t wait to hear some stories. LOL
I know – I dropped off of the earth for a little while
I’ll be better from now on, I promise! And, definitely stay tuned for a couple embarrassing stories
wowwww!! I am so happy for you! Congratulations and what a wonderful blessing you have coming your way. High risk pregnacies are not fun at all, I have been there, but at the end of the day is all worth it.
Please keep us posted, I wish you the best.
Hugs
Kathia
Thanks so much, Kathia! I know it will be totally worth it in the end, and hopefully most of the excitement is behind me!
Congratulations!!!!! That is awesome news. I hope things go really well for you. It’s great you’re taking the attitude of doing things and not worrying too much because you can worry yourself crazy. It’ll all work out
Thanks, Laura! It is so hard for me not to worry, but it certainly wasn’t doing me, or the baby, any good. I’m just trying to focus on the positive
Yeah!!! Congratulations!! I did not have an easy pregnancy either, but I can tell you it will all be worth it in the end!!
Thanks, Erin! Sometimes having a high risk pregnancy can feel a little isolating (not that I would wish it on anyone else!), so it is nice that I’m not the only one who had to deal with a few more complications
Once the baby is here, it won’t matter!
Congratulations on your pregnancy. I wish you the strength and patience to drive through the rough road.
Take care and relax.. Bcoz after the little one comes, you will hardly get time to rest
Haha, so true, Ruby! And I have been sleeping more than EVER. So, I’m rocking at that
Congratulations!!! Hope all goes well.
Thanks so much, Darlene!

Haha, thanks, Kristina! It is probably best for everyone if I’m presentable (and clean) on a regular basis
