Twilight Party Guide
Last weekend, I co-hosted a bridal shower for my oldest friend; we have known each other since 4th grade. She asked for a Twilight themed bash. I was happy to oblige! I decided to put together a comprehensive guide for you to throw your own Twilight party (bridal or otherwise).

Jacob Cupcakes
You can’t have Edward without Jacob! Well…maybe you can. I remember reading an article that said that Stephenie Meyer had originally written that Bella and Edward got married right after the first book. The publisher thought it was inappropriate to have Bella get married and bear her freaky, half-vamp baby at the tender age of 17. So, Meyer create the whole love triangle thing that would forever divide legions of girls into “Team Edward” or “Team Jacob.”

Edward Cupcakes
I guess if I had to choose, I would be Team Edward. I mean, have you seen Robert Pattinson?

Breaking Dawn Cookies
To tell you the truth, I was super intimated when I decided to make a Twilight cookie. My first design attempt was a big, fat fail. Plus, so many bakers have already made really amazing Twilight cookies – like Sugarbelle, Ali Bee’s Bake Shop, and Donna Makes Cakes. You’ve probably noticed that the cookies I normally make can be kind of complicated (like this one), or take an inordinate amount of time (like this one). So, I decided to buck my complicated tendencies and create a simple, but striking cookie to celebrate the awesomeness of Twilight. Oh, and I’ll give you some tips for making these without using icing, just to make it even easier!

Twilight Week
Image from Film.com
I’ve never understood all of the Twilight hate out there.
I get that it is not for everyone. For me, it is a guilty pleasure – like watching Teen Mom 2 or The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Trust me, the ridiculousness of the whole thing isn’t lost on me. There is…
Stalker behavior.

Uterus biting. I hate when that happens.

Implied molestation of babies (i.e. “imprinting”).

Sparkling vampires.

Plus, if there was no Twilight franchise, what would Kristen Stewart do with all of her was-kind-of-cute-at-first-but-is-now-getting-really-old awkwardness? Have you seen this poor child in an interview?
Bless her heart.
Despite everything, it is a thoroughly entertaining franchise, whether you are enjoying it as a fan or making fun of it.
So, I’m excited to bring you some Twilight themed goodies this week.
In the meantime: I’d love to know – are you a fan? Have you read the books and/or seen the movies? Or would you rather blind yourself with vampire sparkles than get sucked into the Twilight vortex? No judgement here
Peggy’s Firecracker Cookies
I’ve saved the best for last. Peggy is my favorite female character on Mad Men. People make assumptions about Peggy based on her appearance. She looks sweet and innocent (and dresses the part). But, don’t mess with this chica. She’s ambitious, smart, and finding her feet in a male-dominated world.

Joan’s Heart Thumbprint Cookies
“I like redheads. Their mouths are like a drop of strawberry jam in a glass of milk.” – Roger Sterling (about Joan)
I love that quote. I think the writers give Roger all of the best mildly inappropriate one-liners. Like, “when God closes a door, he opens a dress.” Oh Roger.

Apple Brown Betty Draper
“Only boring people are bored” – Betty Francis/Draper
Perhaps the most polarizing character on Mad Men, Betty is hard to like. She is a distant, sometimes abusive, mother, a childish spouse, and a generally unpleasant person. She is also delicate and troubled. And beautiful.

Mad Men Week
Image from AMCTV.com
I’ve decided to shake things up here at NoYoMoCo. I had so much fun with my Irish week for St. Patrick’s Day that I’m planning several new themes for the near future. I will announce each new theme on Mondays, an awesome sugar cookie on Tuesdays, and other various treats/posts for the rest of the week. I’m not sure how long these themed weeks will last, but I will ride this wave of creativity for as long as I can!
Is anyone else excited for the premiere of Mad Men? It has been way too long since the last season finale – over a year! And, while I have appreciated the reruns on my sleepy Sunday mornings, I’m ready to reenter the world of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. I won’t be having a premiere party myself, but the treats I will be sharing this week would be a great addition to your party menu. AMC also has a fantastic party guide on its website.
So, any thoughts for the next season? Will Don really marry Megan? How will Roger handle the baby-mama drama with Joan? Will Betty continue to be a despicable human being? Tell me what you think and stay tuned for more Mad Men shenanigans!
