Oh man, you guys.
Normally I start each post with a funny/witty/amusing little tale which has little, if anything, to do with the actual recipe I’m posting. Because I think everyone likes those kinds of stories. Especially when they involve imaginary turkeys or Paul Anka.
But, I just can’t this time.
These are too freakin’ good. They deserve their own post.
They are one of the tastiest things I’ve ever concocted – and I don’t throw that around lightly! Even better? They are BEYOND easy.
You start with refrigerated biscuit dough – that’s right, no mixing, no yeast! I had seen several bloggers using this method and I was intrigued, but not totally convinced. Could they really be as a tasty as they all said?
YES. Yes, they are.
They fry up nice and crisp in some hot oil, and then I dunked ‘em in a simple (microwaved!) glaze of unsalted butter, chunky peanut butter, and Nutella. Oh, and a sprinkling of mini chocolate chips too.
My husband tried one and I knew from the look on his face that if I didn’t photograph them immediately, I would have nothing to show you all! Obviously, that is unacceptable, so I snapped the pictures I needed and gave him permission to have at it.
The things I do for your guys
- 1 can refrigerated large biscuits (8 per can)
- Vegetable Oil
- ½ cup Nutella
- ⅓ cup chunky peanut butter (you can also use creamy, as long as it is not natural/homemade)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- Mini chocolate chips, optional
- Place about 1½ to 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large skillet. Heat to approximately 325 to 350 degrees.
- While oil is warming, remove biscuits from can and peel apart. Using a small, round cutter, cut a hole in the middle of each biscuit (save the middles and fry them to make doughnut holes!).
- When oil is ready, gently place 2-3 doughnuts at a time in oil until lightly browned on each side (watch out – they cook fast!). Place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain when done.
- In a medium bowl, place the butter and chunky peanut butter. Microwave for about 30 seconds, or until melted. Stir to combine. Add the ½ cup of Nutella, mix until thoroughly combined.
- Dip doughnuts into the Nutella mixture. Use a spoon to add more glaze if it comes out uneven. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips, if desired. Serve immediately. Makes 8 large doughnuts (and 8 doughnut holes!). Recipes can be easily doubled.

Lordy Lordy, do I love donuts. Yes ma’am, yes I do. All I can say is that it’s a good thing you can’t get refrigerated biscuits here in Australia.
Haha, good call, Sarah! Perhaps it is for the best…they are addictive!
Yes please…2 for me! I can just taste these (as Paul Anka plays in my head!) I had my first donut in years at church Sunday. Bacon Maple…can’t really decide if I like it. I sure wish it had been a Nutella Peanut Butter Donut!
That’s so funny – I almost added candied bacon to these (minus the peanut butter). But, I’m definitely in love with them as is!
Jennifer, your Nutella Peanut Butter Glazed Doughnuts look off…the…chain DELISH! I adore everything Nutella and PB! Enticing photography, too! xo
Thanks so much, Stacy! They are so good- totally addictive!
Oh man, these sound insanely good! I am a sucker for anything with Nutella. I have seen the biscuit trick with donuts too, and wondered how it worked. I have to test this out!
Yes, definitely try it out, Erin! I was skeptical, but it turned out so delicious! Now, I don’t know if it would be as tasty as a cinnamon sugar doughnut (since there is no sweetness in the biscuit dough), but any type glaze would be delicious!
This is amazing! I am in love with them!!!
Thanks so much, Katrina! I’m kinda in love with them too
Yum. Just pure yum!
Thanks, Michelle! They are mighty tasty
Oh, I’ll have to make these for a brunch – they look delicious!!!
Seriously, so good, Kim! You could even use creamy peanut butter and then add colored sprinkles for a party
I had no idea you could make donuts with biscuit dough! I have to give this a try.
It was news to me too, Mike! I had to give it a try – super yum and easy
Those look soooo GOOD! I’ll take five!
You got it, Shelan!…that is, if we had any left
“Easy” and “doughnuts” are two very dangerous words when used in the same sentence! Now I have no choice but to make these devilish little thangs! They look amazing, Jennifer!
Thanks, Georgia! It’s actually kind of dangerous that they are so easy…you can whip them up so quickly and then you always have doughnuts around…super dangerous if you ask me!
It’s so funny how many people are using biscuit dough for doughnuts-my mom used to do that when I was a kid
also-OMG NUTELLA PEANUT BUTTER DONUTS GET IN MY MOUUUTH!
What!? My mom never did this! I’m going to give her a talking to…
Oh My…heavenly *sigh*.
Thank you, Paula!
My dad would by biscuits to make doughnuts for me and my brother years ago! It is one of those happy kitchen memories that I will always cherish. Thanks for sharing these delicious treats with us:)
I’ve been deprived – my family never did this!
I told my mom that I’m going to make it for her when I visit her this month, so maybe I’m starting the tradition
OMG that glaze. O. M. G. I need that in my life, pronto. These are amazing Jennifer!
It is SO good, Dorothy! I’ve been thinking about what else I could glaze with it…hmm…
I have no words other than yummmmmmmmmm……………..
My thoughts exactly, Nessa!
You had me at Nutella!
I’m all about the Nutella!
Nutella and peanut butter donuts? This officially makes my granola and yogurt breakfast parfaits look like garbage. I need someone like you to bake me donuts in the morning!
I’d do it happily, Hayley!
